Birds of a Feather Flock Together

The old adage is true of people as well as birds. And nature and birding are great match-makers, bringing kindred spirits together to observe and conserve. Just ask some of those who credit participating in an Audubon chapter or taking a birding trip with introducing them to their mates. Both birds and people find themselves pairing off when the chemistry is right. Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to share stories about several pairs of lovebirds, some avian and some human.

Avian Love Birds:
Learn about some of the Romeos and Juliets of the bird world, with their unique courtship behavior and lifelong pairing. Learn which of these species are on Audubon’s Watchlist and how you can help them thrive and flourish.

Human Love Birds:
People who take up birding share a great deal, such as a deeper knowledge and appreciation of nature, a chance to do conservation work, more time spent out of doors, wonderful new friendships and, in some cases, romance. We asked a few couples who met through birding to share their stories and they graciously agreed.

Green Gift Ideas:
