Resources for IBA Site Support Groups

  • Next Steps for IBA Site Support Groups
Thanks to all those who attended the Lansing and Seney IBA Support Group Workshops in April! For a summary of the workshops, including presentations, click here.

One result of the meetings was a discussion about where we go next.
The information below provides a summary of that discussion, and will help guide your activities as we initiate IBA Site Support Groups.

    1. Obtain the list of ~500 potential Michigan IBAs compiled by Kalamazoo Nature Center. View list now

    2. Determine, with the help of your chapter, which sites from the list you are interested in "adopting".

    3. Ask Caleb (by email), for the site reports for each site of interest. Go through the site report, looking for inaccuracies or data gaps (particularly the bird data), and making appropriate modifications/additions as necessary. You will want to solicit data from those in the chapter, and any other people whom you think may have additional data. Send the modifications/additions to Caleb.

    4. Lastly, determine which other deserving sites from your area were left off the list of 500 potential IBAs. This is a vital contribution because we are unaware of many potential sites that only you locals will know about!
