Neotropical Migrants of Conservation Concern:
Focus on Eighteen Waterbird Species

The first phase of this Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act project has focused on the conservation of Important Bird Areas supporting populations of eighteen migrant waterbird species, all of which are on the Audubon WatchList.
Through analyses of data compiled to date in the Important Bird Areas database, approximately 380 identified or recognized Important Bird Areas throughout the U.S. had reported the occurrence of one or more of these species in breeding, wintering, or in passage.
