Neotropical Migrants of Conservation Concern:
Focus on 45 Landbird Species

This phase of the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act project has focused on the conservation of Important Bird Areas supporting populations of 45 migrant landbird species, all of which are on the Audubon WatchList and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Birds of Conservation Concern list. Some of these are categorized as globally threatened species that are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.

Through analyses of data compiled to date in the Important Bird Areas database, 965 identified or recognized Important Bird Areas throughout the U.S. reported the occurrence of one or more of these species in breeding, wintering, or in passage.
