Access: Staff and supplies are transported either by our Project boat or aboard one of two commercial tour boats. The Project's 23' motor boat, Lunda III, is moored near the Audubon Camp in Bremen. Operated only by qualified staff, it may be used to transport research staff and/or supplies to the island. An inflatable Avon with oars is kept at the island is used to row out to meet the Lunda III. After mid-June, quick staff transfers or supply drops may be done from the puffin tour boats.
Duties: The Island supervisors will outline the specific projects underway when you arrive on the island. Duties may include: daily bird counts, 3-hour blind observation stints, bird banding and censusing. Wildlife: Atlantic Puffins, Common, Arctic, and Roseate Terns, Black Guillemots, Laughing Gulls, Leach's Storm-Petrels and Common Eiders predominate. Early summer brings migrant songbirds to the island while late July and August days are excellent for migrating shorebirds.
