The North Carolina Birding Trail

Where: North Carolina.

What: The North Carolina Birding Trail is a driving trail, linking great bird watching sites across the state with communities, businesses and other local historical and educational attractions. The Trail is being completed in three distinct components: the coastal plain, the piedmont, and the mountains. Guide books for each region are also being produced as each section is implemented. As of August 2007, the coastal plain region of the Trail is complete, the piedmont region of the Trail is well underway, and implementation of the mountain region will begin this fall. Check out the NCBT website to order a copy of the coastal plain trail guide, which highlights more than 100 sites across the region, including many Important Bird Area sites. The piedmont trail guide will be available by summer 2008.
