Application for Audubon’s Great Lakes Advocacy Training

March 4-7, 2007

The Great Lakes region’s annual descent on Washington, D.C. - Great Lakes Day - is March 7, 2007. Like last year, Audubon will be complementing the activities of the Healing Our Waters® - Great Lakes Coalition, the Great Lakes Commission, and the Northeast-Midwest Institute. Join us for two days of education and advocacy training on the Great Lakes and federal legislation, followed by a day on Capitol Hill to meet with your Senators and Representatives.

Participants should plan to arrive on the afternoon of Sunday, March 4. There will be an informal welcome reception that evening. Training will begin on the morning of Monday, March 5. Please plan on returning home the evening of Wednesday, March 7.

Please fill out the following application form. Because Audubon will be paying for most expenses, we can only bring a select number of Auduboners to Washington.

Applications must be received by Wednesday, January 31st. We will inform you whether or not you have been selected to attend the training the following week. For more information, please contact Karen Orenstein, korenstein@audubon.org.

Expenses: We will cover your airfare, hotel accommodations, most meals, and transportation expenses while in Washington, DC (please keep your receipts). We will not cover transportation costs to/from the airport and meals during travel to/from Washington. There is a $50 registration fee for this training, which we will collect once you arrive in Washington. You do not have to pay to apply.

Travel Reservations: If you are selected to participate in the training, you will be asked to contact Audubon's travel agency to make flight reservations. You must make your reservations through our travel agency. Please do not make reservations on your own, as we will not be able to reimburse you. (If you are driving, we will reimburse you on a per mile basis.)

Hotel Reservations: We will make reservations for you at a downtown Washington-area hotel near the Audubon office (all hotel rooms will be double occupancy, i.e. you will have a roommate, unless you would like to pay the difference). If you have your own housing lined up, please let us know that as well. Please do not make hotel reservations on your own, unless you will be paying for them, as we will not be able to reimburse you.
