Horseshoe crabs are found along the entire Atlantic Coast. The epicenter of the population and the shorebird phenomenon is the mid-Atlantic region. Therefore, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia have been the key states so far. All Atlantic states, however, are critically involved. Here is a table of state regulations pertaining to horseshoe crabs, from the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's December 1998 Fishery Management Plan. Below is information pertaining to individual states. Also be sure to check out the In The News section of this site to read any relevant news articles. For more information, contact Perry Plumart. |
