What is the Audubon Birdathon?
Audubon's
Birdathon is like a walk-a-thon; only participants collect pledges for every bird species they identify instead of every mile they walk. Each spring, thousands of participants from Audubon offices and chapters across the country help to raise nearly $1 million annually nationwide. Birdathon is Audubon's largest annual fundraising event and is open to anyone interested in participating from novice to expert birders.

Where do Birdathon contributions go?
100% of contributions raised for Audubon Alaska's Birdathon will remain here in Alaska to support science, policy, and education programs.

How to participate:
As an Audubon Alaska Birdathon Volunteer, you (alone or with one or more partners) will spend a morning in late May or June walking, biking, hiking, skiing, or kayaking in a location where you are likely to see birds (e.g. a park, pond or lake, along the shore, in a wilderness area or forest, etc.). You will work to see or hear as many bird species as you can during a 24-hour period.

Prior to the event, you will sign up Birdathon sponsors to pledge a given amount per bird you see or hear, or a fixed amount. Once the event is complete, you will follow up with sponsors to secure pledges and report on your success and the birds you identified.

Thank you
for your interest and participation in
Audubon Alaska's Birdathon!
