Energy Advocacy Resources

Wave Energy

Wave energy projects are in consideration for coastal California. While Audubon California has taken no position on wave energy, Audubon California's Science team has developed a Board and staff briefing on the impacts of wave energy on seabirds which may be useful for chapter advocacy.

Wind Energy

Audubon California supports the role of wind power as an alternative source of energy if it is sited, operated, and mitigation steps are taken to minimize its impacts on birds and other wildlife.

Wind projects are permitted locally in California by counties and federal agencies such as BLM or U.S. Forest Service. This puts chapters on the front line of that local permitting process.

Here are some resources if you are advocating to minimize the impacts on birds and other wildlife of a wind project in your area.

Other chapters in the Chapter Network who have been engaged in this process are a valuable resource.

Please contact if you would like support for your advocacy.
