Minnesota has 14 National Audubon Society chapters and over 10,000 members actively promoting conservation in the state.

A Chapter is an organization of Audubon members that is chartered and annually re-certified by the National Audubon Society (NAS) to function in a designated geographical area so that members who live within it can easily attend meetings, take part in Chapter activities, and participate in the local Audubon community. All NAS members are assigned to the respective Chapter serving their area. Some chapters offer chapter-only memberships.

A Chapter is a primary vehicle through which members can participate in Audubon activities. Through their meetings for members and the public, school programs, events, field trips, Christmas and Backyard Bird Counts and other activities, Chapters educate the public about the value of birds and other wildlife, while providing their community with outstanding opportunities to appreciate and enjoy the natural world. Chapters are the primary decision-makers on conservation issues affecting their local community. They also collaborate with the state office on statewide issues and the national office on issues of concern across the country. This three-way partnership strengthens Audubon’s efforts to conserve and restore natural ecosystems and in creating a culture of conservation in America.

With over 10,000 members, our volunteer chapter network gives Audubon a strong grassroots presence that distinguishes us from other conservation groups in Minnesota. Audubon's chapters can bring you bird walks, advocacy campaigns, nature outings, educational programs and other events. With 14 chapters around the state, there's likely to be one nearby!
