Mississippi River Issues
.

More than 300 species of birds use the Mississippi River as a migratory flyway each spring and fall. These birds depend upon the health and vitality of this amazing ecosystem. WatchList birds such as the Prothonotary Warbler and endangered species like the Bald Eagle use the Upper Mississippi River in Minnesota to nest and feed. Other birds use it during their migratory journeys to the far reaches of the Arctic. How the Mississippi is managed by federal authorities has a long-term effect on birds and other wildlife populations. If we want to protect birds in Minnesota and the rest of the world, we must be actively involved in the determining how the river is managed.
