New Staff Members

June 3, 2008

Audubon Missouri Supporters,

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our newest Audubon Missouri staff members.

Beginning in May 2008, Audubon Missouri’s State Office moved to Joplin, Missouri as Tony Robyn accepted the position of VP and State Executive Director. A State Office Manager was then needed.

Marcia K. Foster accepted the position of State Office Manager and began work on May 19. Marcia Kay has lived in Missouri all her life, growing up around and in nature in Noel, Missouri. She graduated from Missouri Southern State College with two A.S. degrees – Office Administration and General Business. She comes to Audubon with over 20 years’ experience in office administration. Prior to joining Audubon Missouri, she worked at Freeman Health System as the medical education coordinator for their residency program, and brings several years’ experience working at a veterinary office both as front manager and as a vet tech. Being an animal lover, she started her own pet sitting business in 2001 and continues to work at this in her off time. She lives just outside of Joplin with her husband, Ron, and enjoys being in nature whether it is swimming, hiking, or birding. Being one who takes her work seriously, she is excited to be a part of Audubon and serving in its mission.

The search for an Executive Director for the St. Louis Center has resulted in the hiring of Patricia Hagen, Ph.D. The St. Louis Audubon Center project will include a nature center, a riverboat nature experience, and birding trails at the Confluence area. The emerging center will be situated at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

Patricia Hagen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia, and received her Masters in Public Administration and Doctorate in Public Policy Analysis from Saint Louis University. She has spent most of her professional career at Saint Louis University, where she served in a number of roles, including research administrator, associate dean, and associate provost.

Patricia and her family love the outdoors, love to travel, and are extremely interested in preserving the environment. She is an avid gardener and cook, and a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals!

Please help us in welcoming Patty and Marcia Kay to Audubon Missouri.

Tony Robyn Takes on New Role

February 20, 2008

Audubon Missouri Supporters,

We are excited to announce that our search for a state executive director has ended! Through a series of discussions and meetings, our very own Tony Robyn has been offered and accepted the role of Audubon Missouri Vice President and Executive Director. For those of you perhaps not as familiar, Tony has successfully led the development and construction of Audubon Missouri’s first center in Joplin, Wildcat Glades. Having worked in zoo and nature center administration in his career, he comes to us with a proven depth of experience and understanding of the conservation issues that affect our State and region.

Tony begins his new role on March 17th. As our new Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center advances in Joplin, our Cole Camp Prairies Project continues to move forward, and as the center project emerges in St. Louis, I know that Tony, along with the Audubon Missouri staff, Audubon Missouri leadership, and our partners, is excited to begin the work ahead.

Please join us as we welcome Tony in his new role.

Roger Still
Vice President, Mississippi River Initiative

Missouri's First Audubon Center Opens
Opened September 8, 2007

The Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center, located in Wildcat Park, Joplin, Missouri, is adjacent to some of the last remaining chert glades; a globally unique habitat found only in this area and the biologically rich Shoal Creek, an important place for migratory birds and other wildlife. The Audubon Center is a partnership project of Audubon Missouri, the City of Joplin and the Missouri Department of Conservation. The Center itself is a celebration of nature. Innovative “green” technologies create a truly distinctive building in keeping with our mission of appreciating, conserving and understanding our natural world. The local Missouri Department of Conservation offices are also located on site.
