Logging for chip mills causes soil erosion

Photos by Tom Kruzen - January 6, 2000

This the clearcut on the Maxwell land along Funk Branch Road one year later. The logs went to the Willamette chip mill. The soil is on its way to the sea. How many neotropical migratory songbirds will want to nest here this spring?

This clearcut on steep slopes on Maxwell land along Champion Springs Road without the use of Best Management Practices is causing soil erosion problems.

This soil from the cut on Maxwell land along Champion Springs Road is on its way to the Gulf of Mexico.

The ruts run up the hill on this desolate clearcut near Annapolis, Missouri.
