Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I get to Spring Creek Prairie?
A: The prairie is located 20 minutes southwest of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Q: When are you open?
A: We are open seven days a week — Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and
Saturday and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. throughout the year except major holidays. |
Q: Are dogs allowed on the trails?
A: No, we tested a policy of allowing dogs on leashes but found that they were too disruptive for our
nesting grassland birds.
Q: Are bicycles or motorcycles
allowed on the trails?
A: No, only foot traffic is permitted on the trails. Motorized scooters for handicapped persons
are acceptable. |
Q: Can horses be ridden on the prairie?
A: Yes! Horse riding is allowed, but only by appointment. Call (402) 797-2301. Individuals or groups need to supply their own
horses; horses are not available for rent at the prairie.)
Q: Is the site wheelchair
accessible?
A: The education building is wheelchair accessible. The trails in the restoration area immediately surrounding the building
have a crushed limestone covering and are suitable for wheelchair traffic. The prairie trails, however, are mowed and are not
handicap-accessible. (Motorized scooters for handicapped persons are acceptable.) |
