Thomas Ashford Scout Reservation

Site Description:

The Thomas Ashford Scout Reservation is located seven miles from Homer in northeast Nebraska. The 800-acre private site is used by the Boy Scouts of America as a full-time Scout summer camp and is now open for year-round camping. It supports the northern-most extent of white oak in the state and its well-watered ravines consist of basswood, oak, hackberry, and cottonwood trees.

Ornithological Summary:

Surveyed annually since the 1970’s, the site contains a remarkable selection of uncommon to rare woodland species: red-headed woodpecker, whip-poor-will, black- and yellow-billed cuckoo, acadian flycatcher, wood thrush, and cerulean warbler are all confirmed breeders.
