Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center is an 808-acre tallgrass prairie nature preserve located 20 minutes southwest of Lincoln, Nebraska. Visitors can enjoy miles of walking trails, nearly 650 acres of native (never plowed) tallgrass prairie, ponds and wetlands, wildflowers and grasses, a diverse assortment of birds and other wildlife, historic nineteenth-century wagon ruts, peaceful surroundings, and beautiful scenic vistas. Volunteer opportunities are available and education programs for all ages are offered year-round.

DEB HAUSWALD NAMED AUDUBON EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

Years of outstanding success and commitment in introducing people to the wonders nature and conservation have earned national recognition for Deborah Hauswald.

She received the National Audubon Society's prestigious Tamar Chotzen Audubon Educator of the Year award in ceremonies at a gathering of the organization's national and state leadership in October in Columbus, Ohio. Hauswald was honored for nine years of delivering innovative nature discovery experiences to children at the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center in Denton, where she serves as Education Coordinator. A series of integrated workshops created to empower women by connecting them to the prairie through the study of its history, the role of women then and now, and how visual and performing arts within the natural habitat strengthen and guide women.
