Great Backyard Bird Count Family Event
Saturday, January 30, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
REI at the Railyard, 500 Market Street, Santa Fe (Flyer )
Despite the cold outside, winter months still provide wonderful opportunities
for families to get outside and connect with nature. Audubon New Mexico, along
with several partners, will be hosting a free Family Event at REI in Santa Fe
to kick off the Great Backyard Bird Count. Bring your family and learn how to
discover and investigate the wonders of nature from the warmth of your home or
at the Randall Davey Audubon Center and Sanctuary. This event will include live
birds, crafts for families, and door prizes like a $100 Audubon Summer Camp scholarship
to celebrate the beginning of the count. The Great Backyard Bird Count is easy
and it provides useful bird census information to scientists. Even if you only
know a few bird species, you can help. The 13th annual count takes place Friday,
February 12th through Monday, February 15th. Even 15 minutes counting birds can
make a difference! Great
