Welcome to the Randall Davey
Audubon Center & Sanctuary
Located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at an elevation
of 7500 feet, the Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary
encompasses 135 acres of intriguing landscapes and wildlife.
Bounded by thousands of acres of National Forest and Santa
Fe River Watershed land, the Center and Sanctuary provides
safe habitats for plants and animals. Ranging
from common to rare, approximately 130 species of birds can
be found in or over the various ecosystems of this sanctuary.
There are many activites at Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary for
adults and children. You can take a guided bird walk on Saturdays, and
tour the historic Randall Davey Home and Art Studio on Friday afternoons
with trained docents. Hiking trails lead through several different habitats
and plant zones ranging from meadows to Ponderosa Pine forests. Formal
gardens are also available next to the historic Davey Home for viewing
hummingbirds and other plant pollinators, and the expansive lawn is a
calming place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our Nature
Store is open daily from 10:00 AM–4:00 PM,
and also serves as our Visitor’s Center. Stop there first to check
in, find out what’s available, get a trail map, perhaps borrow some
binoculars for birding watching, and to learn about the landscapes and
events at the Center and Sanctuary.
