Educational Interns

The Randall Davey Audubon Center hires seasonal interns who are interested in gaining experience in the field of environmental education. Interns gain a variety of experience working with elementary school children in our diverse programs. In presenting education programs, interns assist educators in preparation and teaching. In addition, responsibilities include: staffing the nature store, office work, and sanctuary upkeep. Qualifications include experience working with young children, an interest in science education, and the willingness to do a wide range of tasks. Interns are provided with housing and a weekly stipend.

If you are interested in one or more of these seasonal openings, please fill out the application and send it as well as your resume, cover letter, and the names of three references to Education Department, RDAC, P.O. Box 9314, Santa Fe, NM 87504, audubonnmedu@audubon.org. Positions are open until filled so apply early!

Environmental education is one of the focuses of Audubon New Mexico. Throughout the year, classes are held at the Randall Davey Audubon Center in our 1,200 square foot classroom and on the trails of our 135-acre sanctuary. Classes are adapted for different age groups and are filled with science investigations, nature explorations, creative arts, history, stories, hiking, and active play in the outdoors. Birds for a Purpose is the focus of outreach conducted all over the state of New Mexico. In the summer months, local children flock to the Audubon Center for an eight-week summer camp filled with arts and crafts, outdoor activities, hiking, and natural history. The Education Department relies upon interns from colleges and universities and has an active volunteer program.
