The creek bed hosts a beautiful stand of Arizona Sycamore,
ideal for Elf Owl, Brown-crested Flycatcher, Yellow-billed Cuckoo (S); and Acorn
Woodpecker and Bridled Titmouse (R). Scrub species include Verdin, Cactus Wren
and Curve- billed Thrasher (R). Habitat: Desert scrub; riparian woodland. Location: Take 1-25 Exit 63 (NM 152 interchange) and drive east a short distance
to a frontage road that runs north-south on the west side of Caballo Lake. Turn
left and drive north about 1 mile. Before coming to a bridge over the creek,
turn left on a paved road that heads west, passing under the interstate. Best
birding is before the creek crossing.
