Common Black-Hawk breeds here, April-Sept. (Avoid disturbance. If a Common Black-Hawk becomes highly vocal, leave the area to prevent nest abandonment). Acorn Woodpecker, Belted Kingfisher and Northern Cardinal (R). Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Lucy’s Warbler and Blue Grosbeak (S).
Habitat: Riparian woodland along Whitewater Creek.
Location: From US 180 in Glenwood, turn onto NM 174. Shortly after that turn, turn right, entering the fish hatchery property. Wooded area is open from daylight till dark.
