Iron Creek and Gallinas Campgrounds (and the area between) offer good woodland birding including Whip-poor-will, Cordilleran Flycatcher, Grace’s Warbler and Painted Redstart (M/S); and Northern Pygmy-Owl and Spotted Owl (R).
Habitat: Mixed deciduous and coniferous forest.
Location: From Emory Pass, travel west on NM 152 about 3 miles to Iron Creek. From Silver City, take US 180 about 7 miles to Santa Clara, then go left on NM 152 for about 21 miles to Lower Gallinas Campground.
