At the junction with NM 15, look for Greater Pewee and Olive Warbler (MIS). Higher-elevation birds include Northern Goshawk (rare), Spotted Owl, Red Crossbill and Pygmy Nuthatch (R); and Brown Creeper, Hutton’s Vireo and Flammulated Owl (S).
Habitat: Mixed coniferous forest and aspen.
Location: Follow directions to Cherry Creek Campground. Turn right on dirt FR 154, 2.5 miles past Cherry Creek Campground. The summit and fire tower are a short walk beyond the locked gate.
Warning: A high clearance vehicle may be required.
