4 Spring Canyon Unit of Rock Hound State Park

This dramatic canyon in the Florida Mountains offers Phainopepla, Canyon and Rock Wrens, Rufous- crowned and Black-chinned Sparrows and Canyon Towhee (R); and Green-tailed Towhee (M/W).
Habitat: Pinyon-juniper and oak woodlands.
Location: From Deming, take NM 11 south 5 miles; turn east on NM 141 for about 6 miles. Pass Rock Hound State Park’s main entrance, and continue into the canyon. If the gate is not open, park outside and walk through to bird in the park.
