Rheinstrom Hill Audubon Center and Sanctuary is a 1,037 acre sanctuary located in the southeastern corner of Columbia County. It provides habitat for many bird species, such as Mallards, Wood Ducks, Great Blue Herons, Red-winged Black Birds, Tree Swallows, and Hummingbirds. It is also habitat for White-tailed Deer, Coyotes, Bobcats and Black Bears. The Rheinstrom Hill Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place for birding, nature walks and hiking. Directions to Rheinstrom Hill. From the Taconic Parkway exit at Route 23. Proceed east approximately 4½ miles to Craryville. Turn right on County Route 7. Proceed approximately 1½ miles to Cambridge Road. Turn left. Continue on Cambridge Road to the Sanctuary entrance. Proceed up the hill to the marked parking area on the right.

Buttercup Farm Sanctuary is located in the northeastern corner of Dutchess County just south of Pine Plains on Route 82. Over 500 acres in size, Buttercup is an area of diverse habitats with rolling, open grasslands, second growth and more mature woodlands, a former orchard and a marshy, flooded woodland. There are six miles of trails throughout the sanctuary. Over 80 species of birds are possible on a good May day. Of special interest are nesting Great Blue Herons, Wood Ducks, Bobolinks and other birds of the field. Both Golden-winged and Lawrence's Warblers are seen periodically. Directions: Buttercup Farm Sanctuary is located off Route 82, between Pine Plains and Stanfordville, Dutchess County. From the Taconic Parkway, exit at Route199. Proceed east approximately 5 miles to Pine Plains. Go right (south) on Route 82 approximately 5 miles. Just past Attlebury Road (County Route 88), on the left is the parking lot for Buttercup "East". For Buttercup "West", continue south on Route 82 , take next right, Stissing Lane. At end of road, go right. Sanctuary driveway is a short distance on the right.

RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary, located in the Village of Catskill, is 436 acres of tidal marsh and swamp, upland forests and fallow farm fields. Access to the Hudson River is possible by canoe or kayak via the RamsHorn Creek. RamsHorn-Livingstone contains the largest tidal swamp in the northern Hudson River estuary. Audubon New York and Scenic Hudson cooperatively own and manage the property.

There are numerous educational programs conducted on the property. School groups attend field trips with lessons on a variety of topics. Badge programs and field trips are also held for local Girl Scout and Boy Scout dens. Bird watching programs are offered regularly with sightings of Bald Eagle, a variety of waterfowl woodcocks and many other species of birds and wildlife a common occurrence.

Directions to the RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary: Take the New York State Thruway (I-87) to Exit 21. Turn left onto Rt. 23B and stay straight until you reach Route 9W. Turn right on Rt. 9W South. From Rt. 9W, turn left (east) onto Grandview Ave., drive around the circle and down the hill to the Sanctuary.
