Lieutenant Governor Mary O. Donohue, elected Nov. 3, 1998, has been a teacher, district attorney and State Supreme Court Justice. She chairs Gov. George E. Pataki's Quality Communities Task Force set up in January 2000 to study community growth in New York and develop ways to help communities implement effective economic and land development and preservation and rehabilitation strategies. Secretary of State Alexander F. Treadwell is vice-chair of Governor Pataki's Quality Communities Task Force. He has strengthened the Department of State's role as the link between state and local governments and sought to make the department a one-stop-shop for coordinating state technical assistance to communities. He also chairs the New York City Watershed Protection and Partnership Council. |
