New Interpretive Signage at the Green Mountain Audubon Center!

This spring there is something new to see at the Green Mountain Audubon Center. Several colorful and informative interpretive signs have been installed along the Center’s five miles of hiking trails. The new signs were made possible by a generous grant from the US Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The signs highlight different land management projects taking place at the Center and some of the birds and other wildlife that benefit from those projects. Children and adults alike will enjoy the brilliant photographs and the descriptions of the landscape surrounding them. So, as the weather warms, we invite you to come on out to the Center to take a hike. Discover the beaver ponds, meadows, river and forests at the Center and learn something new by checking out some of our new signs. Have fun!

Have you seen this bird? If so you may be seeing the effects of Climate Change right now in your backyard. A new Audubon report says widespread bird movements point to global warming disruption of U.S. ecosystems.

Summer Calendar of Events

Things are buzzing at the Green Mountain Nature Center this summer!

Families can join us for a Twilight Adventure and search for beavers, prowl for owls and sharpen your night vision.

You’ll have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch our Bird Banding Demonstrations, or participate in our Monthly Bird Monitoring Walks. For later-risers we’re planning a study of our most ancient plants: Ferns, Club mosses and Horsetails.

Our popular weekday Preschool Programs feature “Feathered Frenzy” in June, “The Buzz on Bees” in July, and “Wiggly Worms” in August.

For more information, please visit our Summer Calendar of Events, and then call us to register for a program at (802) 434-3068.
