Wonderful Winter Programs at the Green Mountain Audubon Center.

Come discover a different side of the forest this winter at “Beyond Timber: Foods, Medicines, and Crafts from the Forest.”  Join us as we follow the tracks wherever they lead us on a “Wildlife Tracking” program for adults.  Or become a member of our Monthly Bird Monitoring team and participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count.

For families, we plan to spend an evening exploring the forest by the light of the full moon on our “Family Full Moon Walk.”  And join us for “Family Craft Day” as we create our favorite nature-inspired crafts.

Preschoolers will keep warm this winter with a “Predator Prowl” in January, “Snug in the Snow” in February, and “Who’s Hooting?” in March.

Plan ahead for February’s School Vacation Days.  Come build forts and roast marshmallows over a campfire at our “Winter Survival Skills.”  Join us for a day of craft-making fun at “Winter Crafts.”  Or kick off the start of mud season with a day that is all about making maple syrup at “Maple Sugaring Day.”

For more details, please visit our Winter Calendar of Events, and then call us to register for a program at (802) 434-3068.

New Interpretive Signage at the Green Mountain Audubon Center!

There is something new to see at the Green Mountain Audubon Center. Several colorful and informative interpretive signs have been installed along the Center’s five miles of hiking trails. The new signs were made possible by a generous grant from the US Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The signs highlight different land management projects taking place at the Center and some of the birds and other wildlife that benefit from those projects. Children and adults alike will enjoy the brilliant photographs and the descriptions of the landscape surrounding them. So, as the weather warms, we invite you to come on out to the Center to take a hike. Discover the beaver ponds, meadows, river and forests at the Center and learn something new by checking out some of our new signs. Have fun!
