Christi Norman, Program Director, Great Washington State Birding Trail

Christi joined Audubon Washington in 1997 when Washington Wetlands Network (Wetnet), which she helped launch at Seattle Audubon in 1992, moved to the state office. She initiated Audubon Washington's work in watershed stewardship with a series of workshops on tax incentives for conservation in King and Pierce County. As the leader of Wetnet's successful grassroots outreach effort, she organized 50 workshops around the state to help activists use laws and regulations to protect their local resources. She is now the project director for the Great Washington Birding Trail program, which uses nature tourism to promote environmental conservation, especially in rural areas. Christi began her environmental career on the local level as a volunteer to protect clean water and salmon habitat in the Snoqualmie River. Prior to her work in conservation, she was a professional artist; her degree is in fine arts from Adams State College in Colorado.
