Opportunities Internships

Audubon Washington conserves and restores
natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and
their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s

Audubon Washington offers opportunities
for internships in the following areas:
- Communications
Communications interns will write, research, and edit for
Audubon Washington’s conservation educational materials,
draft press releases; assist with media outreach; and help
with administrative tasks as needed. The intern will work
half-time with development and half-time with Seward Park
Environmental Center. Requirements: English or communications
major; interest in conservation issues; writing and editing
skills; desire to learn; organizational skills; flexibility
and creativity. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products on
a PC foundation is a must.
- Development & Marketing
Development and marketing interns will assist with corporate
and foundation outreach efforts, prospect for new clients,
help maintain corporate files and databases. Other duties
will include researching potential foundation supporters,
calling foundations for preliminary discussions of interest,
drafting letters, proof-reading grant proposals, assisting
with event coordination and planning of policy workshops.
Requirements: English or communications major; interest
in conservation issues; writing and editing skills; desire
to learn; organizational skills; flexibility and creativity.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products on a PC foundation
is a must.
Terms
Interns should have completed their first year of studies
at a college or university. A basic understanding of environmental
issues is a plus. Interns may work 20 to 40 hours per week
depending on departmental and educational needs, which will
be discussed during the selection process. Internships normally
last 3 to 6 months and are unpaid at this time.

Deadlines
Audubon Washington has a rolling acceptance policy but encourages
interested individuals to apply at least two months prior
to the fall, spring, or summer terms.

Volunteering is a great way to make
a difference and meet like-minded members of your community
at the same time! There are many
satisfying volunteer opportunities with Audubon Washington
in both state offices (located in Seattle and Olympia).

Olympia:
"Bird's Eye View" Mailing
Parties
This weekly mailing party sends out the Bird's Eye View
legislative newsletter during the session which runs from
mid-January through March or later.
Conservation Callers Brigade
This phone bank of people calls Audubon members all over the
state of Washington to urge their action on conservation issues
by writing to their legislators or attending public-issue
meetings.
Administrative Assistant
Volunteers are always needed to help with general office work,
copying, answering phones, and filing. This role is perfect
for the volunteer who needs a lot of flexibility but would
like to come in on an irregular basis.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteer Night!
Join us every week on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for evening
work parties. We are never short on things to do, or projects
that would benefit from spirited and willing volunteers.
Please let us know at least a day in advance
that you are joining us.
