Mike Daulton

Mike Daulton leads Audubon’s National Policy team in Washington, D.C., which focuses on government relations and grassroots advocacy. He also manages the national Science division and the Community Conservation and Education division in his role as Director of National Programs. As Audubon’s senior political strategist, Daulton represents the organization at the highest levels of government. Since joining the National Policy team in 1999, Daulton has successfully fought for the protection of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Endangered Species Act in some of the most difficult legislative battles of our time. Under his leadership, the National Policy team played the lead role in Audubon’s best-in-class volunteer response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and led efforts to pass the RESTORE Act, the largest conservation funding bill ever passed by Congress, which dedicates $20 billion to restoring Gulf Coast ecosystems. 

Under Mike’s leadership, Audubon's National Policy team strives to be the best conservation advocacy and policy operation in Washington, D.C. It focuses on delivering successful advocacy and activation of the Audubon network, with an emphasis on work that is collaborative, inclusive, aligned to Audubon’s Strategic Plan, and delivers impressive conservation results. 

Prior to working at Audubon, Daulton served as a program evaluator on environmental protection issues for the U.S. Government Accountability Office.  He has appeared on CSPAN and Fox News, and has been quoted in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and many other major news outlets. Mike has received both the prestigious Charles H. Callison Award and the Brock Evans Award for Endangered Species Protection.
