Susan Lunden

Chief Of Staff

As National Audubon Society’s Chief of Staff, Susan Lunden oversees the work of the Human Resources and President’s Office team and provides leadership in the areas of talent attraction and retention, board relations and project management. Audubon is deeply committed to attracting and keeping talented staff as well as fostering a highly engaged Board of Directors. With more than 25 years of financial, operational, and administrative experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, Lunden supports the organization’s strategic plan by bringing talent to bear, deepening the Board of Directors connection with Audubon and ensuring enterprise initiatives are delivered on time.

In Lunden’s previous role at Audubon, Chief Operating Officer, she focused on Audubon’s daily and long-term operations, providing leadership for Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Audubon’s other operational departments. Becoming the Chief Operating Officer in 2012, Lunden has overseen the hiring of Audubon’s new executive team and has increased the effectiveness of Audubon’s administration while lowering costs and managing business risks.

Before joining Audubon, Lunden was the Westchester County Chapter President for The Pajama Program—a national nonprofit that distributes books and pajamas to children in need. She spent the majority of her career in leadership roles at Time Inc. including the Corporate Finance, Corporate Sales and Marketing divisions as well as at Money and Fortune magazines.
