Borestone Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary Camp
SESSION I July 7-14 SESSION II July 18-25 SESSION III July 28-August 4 These Youth Camp sessions for boys and girls aged 12-15 provide an introduction to the woods and waters of northern New England in a truly special setting. Based at Audubon’s spectacular Borestone Mountain Sanctuary in the heart of Maine’s Northern Forest, campers learn about the area’s diverse ecology while hiking, canoeing, and exploring the surrounding country on day trips. Learning how to build a shelter, start a fire without matches, find your way in the woods and other camp craft skills round out this full week of activity and fun. Limited to only 12 campers per session, this program allows individuals to learn about nature and themselves in their own way. Cost: $750.
Borestone Mountain Retreat
Audubon’s Borestone Mountain Sanctuary is a nearly perfect place to experience some of the Maine Woods’ most special features: old-growth spruce forest, crystalline ponds, exposed mountain rocks, and sweeping views. The setting is complemented by the secluded lodges (accessible only by boat or footpath) built in the classic sporting camp style of the early 1900s on the shore straddling two ponds. Participants can take advantage of a daily guided hike or paddle to some of the many nearby natural areas, explore the sanctuary on their own, or just relax on the porch with a book. Adults only. Includes all meals. Cost: $700.
