Your best source is your local library or community nature center bookstore. You will also find our Children's Field Guides helpful. The definitive college textbook is Ornithology,by Frank Gill, Senior Ornithologist at the National Audubon Society, published by W.H. Freeman & Co.

We also have online information about John James Audubon or the history of the Audubon Society.

There is also a wealth of information to be found at search engines like Google and Yahoo. Keep in mind Audubon does not endorse any particular search tool.
