Come to Colorado in the Summertime!

July, 1998 will be here before we know it -- please plan on attending NAS Convention '98! The National Convention program will focus on the following major tracks:

  1. Bird and Habitat Conservation
  2. Audubon Centers and Educational Outreach programs
  3. Successful Audubon programs and activities at the local chapter and community level
  4. National Issue Campaigns
  5. Birding Festivals and Trails -- The Economics of Birding
The Convention will be held July 6-12, at the YMCA of the Rockies in magnificent Estes Park, CO. Chapter leaders will receive registration materials in January.

"Celebrating Successes" is the working theme of this Convention. We hope to attract Audubon volunteers, members, and chapter leaders who may not usually attend conventions and regional conferences. Audubon chapter leaders are a unique asset. If we are to achieve our Strategic Plan's aspiration of "Creating a Culture of Conservation in Communities throughout the Americas," we need to empower our distinctive grassroots network. Therefore, we want to encourage many chapter leaders to attend the Convention -- to share your successes and challenges, to have your accomplishments recognized, and to make presentations based on your areas of expertise to other attendees, whenever possible. We are also looking to honor some of those who came before us and upon whose shoulders we are building our programs.

We want the Convention to be an event that helps build the entire Audubon family into a cohesive team that makes us the most effective grassroots conservation organization in the Americas. Help make that happen -- join us in July!
