Masthead Made Over

Awhile back, the Networker asked readers for ideas on creating a new masthead design. This issue sports the new look -- with thanks to Lewisberry, Pennsylvania artist, Bonnie Prior -- and a new NAS logo.

State Offices Update Coming

The next issue of the Chapter Networker will present a comprehensive look at the NAS state offices up and running as of our going-to-press date.

Deadline For Contributions To Next Chapter Networker:

Saturday September 20, 1997

Please note: the Tallahassee Office (Florida) has a new area code: 850.

Correction: In the last issue of the Networker, the lead story on Hazel Wolf's NAS Medal for Excellence award stated that Hazel was co-founder of Seattle A.S., in addition to her many other services to Audubon. Hazel reports that, although she did help organize over 20 chapters in the area, and has been active in Seattle A.S. for many years, she was not one of its co-founders.

Networker Seeks Chapter Public Event Info

In a near-future issue of the Networker, we would like to feature Audubon chapter public events, festivals, and nature celebrations of all sorts, from as many chapters as possible. Please consider sending Networker a brief description of your chapter's major public "events" celebrating birds, nature, wildlife, habitat, and/or the great outdoors, including a chapter "Contact-for-More-Info." person's name, address, phone, FAX, and email address (if existent).

Girl Scouts USA Board the "ARK"

Starting this fall, several Girl Scout Councils will have the chance to participate in the NAS Audubon Refuge Keepers (ARK) Project. The girls will help band birds, assist with habitat restoration projects, and construct or monitor nest boxes at local national wildlife refuges. More Girl Scout Councils will have an opportunity to get involved as the number of participating wildlife refuges and Audubon chapters increases. The kick-off event for the project will be held during National Wildlife Refuge Week, October 12-18. Selected G.S. Councils will receive a special invitation to attend this event and participate in ARK.

For More Info, Contact: Lora Wondolowski, NAS-DC.

Reminder: National Wildlife Refuge Week will be October 12 - 18 this fall!

1998 NAS National Convention

The Convention will take place July 6-12, 1998 at the YMCA of the Rockies in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado.
