See You in the Rockies

The NAS bi-annual National Convention returns to the Colorado Rocky Mountains in 1998. We hope to see you there. Ready, set, mark your calendars!

The Convention will take place July 6 - 12, 1998 at the YMCA of the Rockies in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado. This site has been used for other Conventions and they have all been very successful, lots of fun and rewarding to everyone. The "Y" site is 3,000 acres of diverse mountain habitat, adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park. A wide range of room-and-board plans will present affordable options to all, from private room/private bath accommodations to small-group dormitory-style arrangements. The facilities can lodge 1,000 people.

Programs will embrace all ages and volunteer levels, and a concurrent youth program will run. Diverse short and long field trips to a variety of mountain and prairie habitats, all led by expert naturalists and local chapter leaders, are among the recreational offerings in planning. Leadership training development opportunities will be scheduled throughout the Convention. New meeting facilities built in the past few years will make us more welcome and comfortable than ever.

Please watch future issues of the Chapter Networker for agenda items as they develop -- a questionnaire coming in the August/Sept. issue will seek your ideas and wishes on Convention offerings -- and for all registration materials (available January, 1998). The Chapter Services Field Office will oversee the organization of the Convention.

Encourage a number of Auduboners from your chapter and state to attend. NAS Conventions provide wonderful networking and information idea exchange opportunities, as well as premier outdoor recreation and wildlife-watching in incredible scenery, with birds of a feather!
