Welcome, to Ogeechee Audubon Society (OAS) (Savannah, GA), new member of the Audubon Refuge Keepers (ARK) program. OAS has just adopted the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), also known as Laurel Hill Wildlife Drive. The chapter looks forward to a rewarding partnership with the refuge; OAS will not limit its participation to National Wildlife Week and Earth Day, but hopes to hold events throughout the year with emphasis on educating our future generations. This is an exciting time for the Savannah NWR; the refuge is hoping to expand its boundaries and is currently number 25 in line for appropriations of funds on the expansion plans. OAS will actively seek support on all levels to ensure that the refuge expansion project, one of the chapter's first and biggest projects, is a success. The NAS ARK program seeks to revitalize community involvement with national wildlife refuges by building local citizen-support groups.
Purchasers of the new ARK t-shirts can put a bird on their backs and give the ARK program more (dollar) legs to stand on! Chapters can bulk-buy shirts (10 or more, $10 each) and earn $2 per shirt sold; single purchases are $12 each. (Shirt's back design shown, above. Shirt front-left bears a 4" diameter ARK logo; see right.) Photo Credit: Keha For more info or to assist, contact: Lauree San Juan, ph: 912/964-2744; e-mail: bubovanus@aol.com.
