After decades of fighting for the conservation and restoration of the Everglades, we are fast approaching a truly defining moment. There will be several opportunities for public participation and comment during the month of November throughout South Florida and in Washington, DC (visit the Web site at: http://www.restudy.org/). Also, on July 1st of the coming year (1999), the Comprehensive Plan for South Florida Restoration is due to Congress. We eagerly await the Plan's release, and hope that you will join us in advocating for an environmentally and scientifically sound plan to restore our Nation's most endangered ecosystem. Let your congressional representatives hear from you between now and July -- call for the approval, authorization, and full funding of an ecologically sound plan that will restore the Everglades. (See http://www.house.gov/, or http://www.senate.gov/ for more information.) NAS-ECO (below) can suggest additional avenues for your participation in Everglades restoration, too.
