Six Elements of a State Program

Preamble: "The National Audubon Society's goal is to build an effective, mission-driven Audubon organization in each state that is both: tailored to each state's local conservation needs and heritage, but also reflects a consistent set of Audubon values, behaviors, programs and processes."

-- adopted by the NAS Field Committee, Board of Directors, 22 March 1998

To accomplish the above goal, each NAS state office's program seeks to establish and incorporate the following six essential elements:

  1. Administration and Management
  2. Development
  3. Science and Bird Conservation
  4. Chapter and Member Services
  5. Communications and Education
  6. Conservation Advocacy and Campaigns

For a complete outline of objectives related to the incorporation of these elements, please contact the NAS National Field Office, 555 Audubon Place; Sacramento, CA 95825; ph: 916/481-5332; FAX: 916/481-6228; e-mail to Jennifer Jacobs: jjacobs@audubon.org.
