After three years of work, the Pennsylvania State Office of NAS is pleased to announce the publication of "Important Bird Areas in Pennsylvania : A Guide to Identifying and Conserving Critical Habitat". This manual, the first in the nation, is a comprehensive guide to Pennsylvania's 73 Important Bird Areas (IBAs) identified under the NAS Important Bird Areas Program. The guide includes data on the 73 Pennsylvania IBA sites, as well as text on practical applications of land conservation, conservation strategies to protect important habitat, important Pennsylvania migration flyways, and Pennsylvania forest ecosystems and their importance to birds. This guide is intended for the concerned citizen, environmental activist, municipal planner, land manager, land trusts and conservancies, or government agencies that would like to become better informed on protecting and managing habitat for birds.
