Nominations Sought for Awards

NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR REFUGE AWARDS
The National Audubon Society's Wildlife Refuge Campaign is seeking nominations for the Rachel Carson Next Generation Award, Advocacy Award, and Chapter of the Year Award. The Rachel Carson Awards recognize outstanding efforts among chapters involved in Audubon's National Wildlife Refuge Campaign. A commemorative plaque and other gifts will be distributed at the National Audubon Society Convention in April, 2000. Nominations are due by Jan. 15, 2000.

NEWSLETTER AND WEB SITE AWARDS
Watch for announcement of chapter newsletter and Web site contests in the mail to editors, via email to electronic communications chairs, and on the Chapter Services Web page -- http://www.audubon. org/local/cso/. Interested chapters may also contact Susan Hughes at 210/532-2332, susan@wordwright.com, or Charles Bragg at cbragg@loop.com for criteria and details; deadline for entry is November 15. Awards will be presented at the April 2000 Convention.

CALL FOR CALLISON AWARDS NOMINATIONS
NAS is accepting nominations for the Charles H. Callison Awards, with winners to be announced at the National Convention in April, 2000. Nominees will have achieved significant successes in environmental policy, creativity, coalition-building, education and/or outreach activities and may be in one of two categories, activists/ volunteers or staff members. A total of four awards will be given, two in each category (Volunteer and Professional) for 1999 and 2000.
