Refuge Week 1999

Celebrate Refuge Week 1999!
October 10 - 16, 1999

Celebrate the integral role refuges play in protecting our nation's wildlife heritage by volunteering, organizing a field trip, or planning an event for National Wildlife Refuge Week -- a celebration of the nearly 93 million acres of refuge lands that safeguard our valuable bird and wildlife habitat.

Refuge Week posters and packets full of helpful suggestions for organizing an event and information about the refuge system are available from the Wildlife Refuge Campaign by calling 800/659-2622 or contacting Jen Schmidt.

This year we're honoring the best and brightest Refuge Week events by offering "Audubon Day at the Refuge" Awards in the following categories:

  • most people
  • most creative/unusual activity
  • best media coverage
  • most litter picked up
Winners will receive fabulous prizes and be recognized in future editions of Refuge Watch and AUDUBON magazine. So remember to mark your calendars and celebrate our nation's spectacular wildlife refuges -- they're right outside!
