Membership in the 21st Century - Pilot Test

Beginning in January of 1998 the Membership Task Force, with participants from all Audubon entities, reviewed and redesigned the current membership structure. Their goal was to reflect the goals of the 1995 Strategic Plan and to move Audubon's grassroots membership forward into the next century. Their recommendations were approved by the National Audubon Board of Directors in September, 1998 and include the following two additions to Audubon's traditional membership structure. In April of this year, chapters in CA, MN, and ND began 18-month tests of these models.

The Supporting Membership Model will recognize individuals who provide a minimum financial support to ANY Audubon entity (chapter, state, center/sanctuary, campaign/program, etc.) by any means, with the majority of the revenue kept by that entity over the long term. The Earned Membership Model will recognize individuals who contribute their time to Audubon by making them Associate Members. These individuals qualify by registering for, and investing a minimum amount of time in an Audubon program, event or entity, including, at each chapter's discretion, chapter volunteers.
