Resolution Regarding
Audubon Chapter Policy 2001

National Audubon Society
Board of Directors

Dated: December 9, 2001

The Chapter Policy governs the relationship between National Audubon Society and its Chapters.  The 1986 Chapter Policy has become outdated since the adoption of the 1995 Strategic Plan.  At the request of the Board of Directors, the Essential Elements Task Force, including Chapter leaders, Board members and staff, has worked for a year to revise the 1986 policy, producing four draft documents and soliciting Chapter input and advice on each.

The resulting Audubon Chapter Policy 2001 (attached hereto as Exhibit A) clarifies the relationship between National (including State Offices) and Chapters, defines the Essential Elements of a Chapter, updates Annual Chapter Requirements and Review, and defines Chapter participation in decision-making and National's commitment to Chapters.  Acknowledging that Chapters and National share a common mission, the Audubon Chapter Policy 2001 focuses on a shared, mission-based approach to Audubon’s collective work.

RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors hereby adopts the Audubon Chapter Policy 2001.
