Charity Krueger
executive director

Charity came to Aullwood in 1982. Since her arrival, the attendance at Aullwood's activities has increased almost threefold. She leads tours for the National Audubon Society having recently been to Kenya and Tanzania. (A 2000 trip to Trinidad too)  A particular interest is the Amish Quilt Show and Quilt Auction which take place each fall. She oversees the management of the Association of Nature Center Administrators' office which is headquarters at Aullwood.
 Tom Hissong

Tom was a naturalist and educator at the Dayton Museum of Natural History and the Five Rivers MetroParks before joining Aullwood in 1994. His area of special interest is birds. Tom's annual birding classes and birding trips are very popular and always fill up early.  In addition he is expert in the natural history of Ohio's fishes and trees.  Tom oversees Aullwood's education program. He is an integral part of the Loos School Project, a link with Dayton's Environmental Magnet School. Tom oversees the volunteer trail guides.

Nina Lapitan

Nina recruits and schedules the hundreds of volunteers who make the work of Aullwood possible, She also coordinates their training. 

John Steadman

He's a big fellow and shares his skills as a farmer as part of the organic farm.

       Liz Kautz
        farm educator  ekautz@audubon.org
         A bundle of energy, Liz oversees the Aullwood Wild Wolves 4-H program, coordinates the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. reading program, plans and plants the Aullwood vegetable garden and coordinates Aullwood's over-night         program for the Boy and Girl Scouts.
   


Ardith Hamilton

Ardith judges ice skating and loves her bichon frise pups.  She is also the person who seeks support for Aullwood from so many different sources it is amazing.  She was recently part of the operation of the Dayton Opera…

Wendy Jacoby
store manager
Wendy maintains the wonderfully diverse book and gift stores . She maintains a collection of hundreds of natural history resource works, teaching resources, children's books, and natural history gift items. One of the store manager's largest tasks is preparation of the huge Holiday Gift Shop which takes place from late November to the end of December. She supervises the volunteers who work in the book and gift shops and those who work at the entry desk. She also takes the "Store on Wheels" to teacher's conferences.

Mike Kloeters
environmental educator
Mike worked as a volunteer for many years leading groups on Aullwood's trails.  Then she retired from her profession as a registered nurse and joined our staff.  We go to her for more than just medical advice, she is a very good environmental educator with responsibility for our growing number of tot and toddler classes.

          Gary Reibert

Gary has a wonderful irascibility which is often brought out by computer neophytes.  Gary would be as happy writing code, advocating Linux, white water rafting, or birding. Now and then he will get out the telescope and point out celestial bodies.

Barbara Trick
office manager
Barb is the nexus of Aullwood. She schedules hundreds of visits by local classes to our many different guided and self-guided programs. She guides the care of our native plant and butterfly/hummingbirdgardens. In summer she is often found tending the growth of caterpillars on her desk.

Nicole Conrad

Nicole is the coordinator of the Summer Adventures program among other things. If you're interested in an internship at Aullwood, Nicole is the person to contact.

John Wilson
environmental educator john.wilson@gemair.com
John oversees the management of the land here at Aullwood. In addition, he cares for the Center's live animals, helps with Apple Festival and pursues insects and teaches visiting school groups.

Mike Wright
maintenance manager
Mike keeps the structure of Aullwood intact. With a handful of key volunteers, all but the most technically obscure problems are solved.  Mike coordinates the volunteers who mow lawns and fields and work on Aullwood's vehicles and buildings.

Chris Rowlands
outreach naturalist
Chris is a sondwriter, singer, painter, puppeteer, and general ball of energy.  He goes into the schools bringing a combination of environmental education and fun with him, educating through entertainment.  More on the Aullwood R.E.A.C.H.E.S. program can be found here.
