This pre-K program for 3 & 4 year olds and a parent has been quite popular over the years and now it's back! Join Environmental Education Intern Ashley Brant for a short nature lesson on insects, including a fun activity, craft, story and snack! Registration is required. Fee: $10 per parent/child pair ($3 each additional child.) Dads are encouraged to participate in this session!

Antique Bird Carvings and the Artists Who Made Them 1900-1970
Audubon Sharon and the Cornwall Historical Society are sponsoring a presentation by birder and Audubon supporter Joe Ellis. The event will be at the Cornwall Historical Society, located at 7 Pine Street, Cornwall Village, CT. In addition to being an avid birder, Joe is also an avid collector of bird carvings. His presentation will be about his new book, Antique Bird Carvings and the Artists Who Made Them 1900-1970.

"Into the Woods" Theatrical Performance
The Hotchkiss Dramatic Association will be presenting a special performance of “Into the Woods” at the Walker Auditorium at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT. Each year the theatre company donates the proceeds of their matinee performance to an area non-profit and this year’s performance will benefit Audubon Sharon. Asian Longhorned Beetle Workshop
Leader: Rose Hiskes, CT Agricultural Experiment Station
The Asian Longhorned beetle (ALB) and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) are wood boring beetles that came to us from China in wooden pallets or packing material. The larval form can also be transported unknowingly in firewood. Come learn what these beetles look like and the damage they cause to our trees.Winter is a great time to see what is going on in our deciduous trees. As you do your winter walks in the woods, bird counts or hunting trips, you can help us look for and report these damaging insects. Registration recommended.

Wildlife Rehabilitation & Outreach Coordinator Erin O'Connell will introduce some of the Center's new resident birds during this program on these fast-flying raptors. Meet an American Kestrel, Merlin and Peregrine Falcon and learn about the falcons' amazing adaptations for survival.

Christmas Bird Count & Potluck Supper
Admission: $2.50 participation fee
“Teams” of birders will be out all over the northwest corner and Dutchess County, NY, in search of our winter birds. After the day is through, we’ll gather at the Audubon Center for a filling meal and to collect our data from the day. Guests are welcome to join a “team” of birders for as long as they wish, and in whatever area they wish. Call the Center for more information.
