Extending the Growing Season & Seed Starting

Saturday, March 13th

1:00pm

Join Botanist Ron Aakjar for the 1st session of his gardening series this spring. We will cover different types of cold frames, cloches, row covers and hot beds. Learn how to get a jump start on the growing season and seed starting. We will be making some of our own simple homemade cloches and planting up seeds for each person to take home in their own seed starting kit. Pre-registration is highly recommended.  This program is offered for FREE as a service to our community.

Donations are greatly appreciated.

MapleFest!

Saturday, March 20th

10:00am-4:00pm

Fee: $7 adults, $5 children

Join us for our open house of Audubon Sharon's sugaring operation.  During the on-going, 40-minute guided tours, visitors will learn how sap is collected from the trees, take a stop in the sugarhouse to smell the sweet aroma of fresh maple syrup boiling in the evaporator, and discover Native American and Early Colonial methods of making maple sugar.  Fresh maple syrup will be available for purchase in the Nature Store while supplies last.

Depending on sap flow, the sugarhouse will be open every weekend in March. Call ahead to see if staff will be boiling sap.
