Species:  Corn Snake, Elaphe guttata
Corn Snakes get their name from the belly pattern, which looks like Indian corn or Maize. 

They are found in southeastern United States.  Their scales are smooth and shiny, but dry and hard to the touch.

They constrict or squeeze their prey until it can't breathe.  Snakes do not chew their food, but swallow it whole.
